.

So we decided to quit without any plans. We took a 2 month break (that will never happen again), after this we started working freelance for different agencies.

To make it easier in term of invoice we created a company, HKI was born in september 2004.

Your name, plus your original "web name/handle"

David Ronhel , DRC

Your first web encounter, year etc.

It was 1997. I was really into video games, and a friend came with a 56k modem, to connect over gamefaqs.com.

If you look, you can still find a faq I made for the king of fighters 97 neo geo game.

Right after this I started designing and coding in html a website around neo geo world.

After this I then got involved in the design community. For me it was things like surfstation, design is kinky, well vetted,  threeoh, k10k...

It was always the international scene,  I was never really interested in the French scene, except maybe for  couple of exceptions such as Praktica, 123klan, arnaud mercier, stenkat, diplomatic cover…. but they are friends before everything.

What our readers might recognise you most for, when you first hit the web.

Maybe the guys from wellvetted in 2000 will remember me for Overage4design in 2002

Your digital journey since.

Since 2002 (when I was living in London) I have moved back to Paris.

At first I was creative director for a big ad company, and started to work closely with my soulmate Nathalie.

Basically we were always pitching together all the time, and it was working pretty well, maybe because we have opposite visions.

By the end of 2003 , we were spending 90% of our time handling all the creative department but never working together as a team, and missing this badly.

So we decided to quit without any plans. We took a 2 month break (that will never happen again), after this we started working freelance for different agencies.

To make it easier in term of invoice we created a company, HKI was born in september 2004.

Since then we have always been true to ourselves, we always say that our goal is to take pleasure in our work , with passionate and talented people we love, as for the clients we put a huge point to work closely with them, and make them part of the family.

We are growing slowly as this year is our 10th anniversary, we are 10, and I can say that we never get such a strong team.

During the past 10 years, we evolve ,through the technologie but also through developing internally new skills, motion, 3d, directing.

We want to stay as a studio we are not an agency, we are craftsmanship, and this in our dna.

Something important to us is to share our passion with passionate people, that s the reason we are doing OFFF, MAD, pixelshow, festivals around the globe.

What are you up to now?

This year was a big step for us we join forces with UNIT9, because it become just natural, we have so many common beliefs.

UNIT9 bring us resources, we learn so much , we are interactive / director, working on so many exciting different aspects digital, game , event , always searching for whats next.

Let’s move forward since 2004
