Never give up on a problem because there is always a solution for it. Let it be your mission to solve it and this is how you will learn more then you ever thought.

Please give us a brief bio of yourself.

Hello. My name is Miro, 25 years old grew up and living in Slovenia.

Ever since I was young I've been drawing with pencils, different characters and fantasy art until during my university in informatics / computer technology where I found myself in a situation that I wanted to present my drawing work to larger audience.

This is how I started learning how to make websites and good 3 years later DrawingArt was born.

Since then I don't draw anymore and I fell in love with designing and developing websites.

Before that time I was just a web surfer and I was amazed with flash and its capability to present websites with an interactive, atmospheric base.

That is why I now spend whole days in front of my computer designing, working in flash and learning new things from day to day.

I just love my occupation and I hope it will last forever.

What do you do for inspiration?

Coffee in my hand and www.thefwa.com on my screen is really the best start of the day to check out the best sites on the web.

I also get a lot of inspiration from movies, games and of course nature, where you can find so many great ideas or just get an idea walking through the forest thinking of your next projects.

Please list 3 of your favourite sites.

www.fantasy-interactive.com - one of the companies that really makes changes on the web all the time and they are constantly pushing web to its limits.

http://66.ufc.com - one of the sites that I really love all about it. Atmosphere, use of video, ..., great graphics, great idea ...

www.leventhumps.com - site with huge atmosphere which in my opinion is one of the best sites Funktion12 did.

The list goes on and on but you asked for 3 sites and it was really hard to pick out the top ones.

What do you regard as being your biggest achievement?

This is really hard to tell since my "mission" basically just started. I will let you know in a while when we see how everything turns out.

For now all I can say is that I'm really happy to tell you that my everyday occupation is what I really love and enjoy and I don't consider it as my work but as my hobby.

If I tell you what would be my biggest achievement it would be that I keep doing what I'm doing, and that people and clients would like my work and I would grow in to a bigger studio that would be known and would have nice recognition worldwide by its quality which is top on the list and hard work.

What software couldn't you live without?

Photoshop and Flash definitely. Those two are just the most powerful combination in my eyes.

What projects do you have in the pipeline?

Right now I'm finishing a website for underground gear www.infamous.com.au, with partners from a UK studio and I'm also very busy developing the new site for DrawingArt which should be out soon in 2007 and bring some new ideas to it.

Who do you rate as being the top 3 design companies?

There are so many great artists and companies in the world but if I have to pick a top 3 I definitely pick:

www.fantasy-interactive.com

www.funktion12.com

www.webshocker.net

What effect on traffic do your new designs have?

Huge effect. I never imagined my work could be so effective. This gives me strength, love and passion to work harder and harder to develop even better and better websites each time.

Also my recognition grew a lot since I received FWA site of the day award for Ciril Jazbec Photography website. Thanks FWA team.

  Who is your target audience?

Basically all who like or would like to have quality interactive websites from young to old. Flash is turning the web around and it opened new experiences in interactive websites with a combination of 3d and video.

What area of web design lacks the most?

My opinion is that mostly materials/content are the ones that have to be better.

From my experience materials for websites are critical, not the quality part. Not all the time but sometimes there are sites that are really good but are let down by the quality of the sites content and assets.

What did your very first site look like? Is it still online?

Huh my first site was made for myself where I just wanted to present my drawings and paintings to a larger audience. No, it is not online anymore, in fact I forgot where I backed it up.

Have you written any books, if not do you plan to?

For now I don't. But for sure somewhere in my head are some desires to write a book but probably time will not allow me before my older age.

What was the toughest thing you ever did with Flash? How long did you spend on it? Is it still online?

The hardest thing is to please myself on every project but if I point out one project that I really found hard it was my own DrawingArt website that will be released soon and hopefully have some different things from all of my sites.

I hope people will like it, enjoy it and they will find it useful and easy to use.

Do you think Flash is here to stay?

Flash is here to stay definitely. It basically just started its mission to occupy the web. I'm certain it will last longer then any other technology.

Combination of flash, good graphics, video and 3d, ... is really amazing.

What are your views on design/graphic school. Do you think someone can get into the field without educational experience in a school environment?

Yes. I am one of those who don't have any graphic education. Basically from my point of view half is in talent and other half is in practice and hard work.

I know so many good graphic and web artists without a school background, so my very strong opinion is if you have something in your heart and passion you don't need education for it.

When your company was just getting started, what did you find was most effective for getting new clients?

The most effective way was to present my own DrawingArt website as good as possible and then to provide each client the highest quality and unique approach. I always keep 3 words in my head: "quality over quantity".

How have you learned so many Flash/design skills and techniques and can you offer any advice for newbies?

I basically learned everything by myself. My advice is, work, learn and try.

Never give up on problems because there is always a solution for it. Let it be your mission to solve it and this is how you will learn more then you ever thought.

Let others critique your work and take every negative critique as positive and don't forget to be honest to your work in all ways.

What is the most expensive thing you've bought in the last week?

Basically it was an iPod shuffle as a gift to my girlfriend for new year. Nothing much, but a nice gadget.

What type of overcoat do you wear when Flashing, basically are you a labels man?

No I'm not a labels man. Mostly I like sports wear that is really nice and cosy when I work but for sure I wear suits for meetings.

Any parting shots or pearls of wisdom?

Hard work always brings good results. Dreams can always come true. Follow them and that is enough said from me.

It's been a privilege, thanks very much.

Thank you, it was an honor. Keep up the good work.
