I think that my life would be better if I wouldn't have to use any kind of software.
I'm a 31 years old, graphic designer/motion designer/art director who wants to be a musician.
What do you do for inspiration?
I've found out that the best way to get some new ideas is to stop thinking about the problem and go for a walk instead. The inspiration will come, sooner or later.
What do you regard as being your biggest achievement?
I always believe that the biggest achievement is still ahead of me. I try not to look back, and i'm always planning for the future. And the future looks good!
How many hours do you work each week?
40 hours, and that's enough.
How do you relax or unwind?
It depends on the weather :) We had a long winter in Poland this year so i've started my own business project, but when it's nice outside i prefer running or cycling in the woods.
If you weren't working on the internet what would you be doing?
I would probably be a musician.
What's your favourite part of your job? What's the hardest part of your job? What do you do when you get stuck?
I like the creative part the most. Coming up with a good idea gives me the most satisfaction. When i get stuck, i take a break. It helps.
What software could you not live without?
I think that my life would be better if I didn't have to use any kind of software.
In terms of software, is there anything new you have been playing with lately or that has impressed you?
It's Element 3D. The greatest plugin for After Effects. It's a real game changer.
What effect on traffic do your new designs have?
I always get the impression that my designs are making it all worse. At least that's what i hear from the programmers that i'm working with :)
Have you written any books, if not do you plan to?
No, filling up this interview, seems jus enough writing for me. I'm a doer not a talker.
Have you been a part of a campaign that was rooted in digital and THEN reached over into other consumer touchpoints? Did this happen organically or was it a part of the plan from the beginning?
We have it quite often, and most of the time, it's planned.
The web is getting out of the web. Do you find that thinking in digital solutions alone hinders you? Do you feel the urge to solve the problem using all mediums necessary?
I think that this kind of projects, are the most exciting ones. I like coming up with complex ideas it gives me the most satisfaction. Getting everything to interact with eachother is a tricky part.
Looking 10 years in to the future, how far can websites go?
I think that in the future, websites will mainly depend on the attractive content, not the form.
What are your views on design/graphic school. Do you think someone can get into the field without educational experience in a school environment?
Yes, I think that the most important things that lead to a success are passion and determination. There's no school that will teach you that.
If you were a student entering this industry or an aspiring FWA award submitter, what advice would you give them?
Try not to aspire to the FWA award. Try to make good things, and the awards will come by themselves.
What would be your ultimate vehicle to travel in?
I would like to learn how to fly a glider one day.
What does the future hold for your company, or you as a person?
I'm very optimistic. I have lots of ideas for the future and I implement them one by one.
