The Role

Nexus Interactive Arts are looking for a talented Technical Lead/Creative Technologist who can work across a range of projects with varying technologies, leading (and coding) on projects and depending on bandwidth, manage other leads on projects.

The Tech Lead is responsible for developing, securing and leading the technology aspect of projects. He/she leads technical strategy, development, execution and innovation across projects and should inspire the team to indulge in new creative uses of technical solutions. The Tech Lead should have an instinctive and profound understanding of relevant technologies and a pragmatic hands-on approach to problem solving.

The Tech Lead is a senior member of the development team and should therefore set an example and show leadership skills to the rest of the development team through mentoring, and where required, manage them on a project basis.

The Tech Lead is also the producers' right arm and therefore excellent communication skills are a critical requirement for this role. As with all team members, the TL needs to be comfortable with working collaboratively, and where needed, participate and / or lead conversations with our clients.

Your responsibilities will be

Own and drive technical projects and provide leadership for a group of Developers in an innovative and fast-paced environment.

Plan and execute complex technical projects.

Provide technical and architectural leadership for projects.

Share knowledge with team members by mentoring, reviewing code, reviewing design docs, giving technical talks, and acting as a consultant on projects.

Strong expertise in problem solving and technical innovation.

Act as the technical lead wherever possible but also be able to oversee and manage teams of leads across multiple projects.

Inspire and educate teams and clients on how we use technology to answer strategic questions with a focus on emerging technologies or new uses of existing technology.

Continued develop of studio pipelines, especially 3DSMAX to WebGL and Unity/Unreal.

Partner with Producers and Directors to ensure we are using the most relevant / effective technology in the execution of creative ideas.

Responsible for the quality and robustness of technical deliverables on each project.

You will be

Comfortable developing in a variety of front-end and back-end technologies. Ideally you will be:
-highly proficient in C++, OpenGL and Unity3D
-proficient in HTML5, JS, C#
-can get your head around Python, Amazon services, general full stack web development, RaspberryPi configurations/development

Significant experience leading teams of developers across a wide range of digital projects.

Very experienced using frameworks such as OpenFrameworks, Django, OpenCV, the Arduino IDE and Jira.

Commercial experience using Unity for multiple purposes, apps, installations and VR experiences.

Experience with electronic prototyping frameworks.
